蒸気のドラムは水管ボイラーの標準機能である。それは水管の先端に水/蒸気の貯蔵所である。ドラムは水管で発生する蒸気を貯え、蒸気/水混合物のための段階分離器として機能する。蒸気ドラムへの「より熱い」-水/および飽和蒸気の蓄積の熱く、冷水の助け間の密度の相違。
蒸気水分離の細部
第一次蒸気水分離は水から少しだけ蒸気が熱くする管の方のドラム底から出口の関係（降水管）を通した再循環するようにほぼすべての蒸気を取除く。
二次分離で、蒸気は最終的な水滴の取り外しのための分離器またはスクラバーの要素（通常密接に間隔をあけられた波形の平行版）の二次段階を通して渡される。蒸気はさまざまな港を通してそれから排出される。
